The Emerson Liebert IS-WEBCARD HID 9 is the latest version of this serial/web comm card for Emerson/Vertiv Liebert UPS systems GXT2, GXT3, GXT4, GXT5.
But, when you put one in a GXT4 or newer UPS, and put the local IP, i.e. 192.168.1.101, you get a message that the card is in an unsupported product. The serial interface also says that.
You can download the latest firmware, but there are no instructions on how to upgrade the comm card. Only the web update function will work. But, you get stuck at that pesky ‘unsupported’ screen.
When you open the web interface, get the unsupported page with the local IP. The type /layout.htm. 192.168.1.101/layout.htm
It’ll complain a bit, but then click ‘Control’ tab on top. On the left find ‘update firmware’ > web interface. Browse to your .Bin firmware file, and click update.
Now the card is compatible with newer Liebert GXT models.
Another problem you might run into is the Liebert IS-WEBCARD SSL certificate. This can cause all kinds of errors accessing the web interface. Firefox just won’t access it. But, if a browser error occurs regarding access to the card, access the card through the DB-9 serial interface, or telnet.
From there, find “generate new ssl certificate” in the menus. Choose that, and wait until it’s done. After the card is reinitialized, go back in and make sure the card’s web server is protected by a password, for administrator at least. Set the web-server access to ‘http not secure’, and the port to 80.
If the web server is password protected, browsers aren’t nearly as fussy about ssl certs. But you should update the firmware once you get into the web interface, because otherwise the ssl version can become so outdated it’s impossible to get in.
